  • The weight. Photo by Amber Maitrejean

While waiting in the doctor’s office I stood in front of this window taking photos of passersby that came into my field of vision. There were all kinds of people: a mom pushing a stroller, the students chatting excitedly, lots of people on cell phones, those in a hurry and those out for a stroll. There was the fashionably dressed and the fashion victims, the man with an arm full of groceries (he forgot his bag) and then across the window came this man…the weight of the world so heavy on his shoulders I could feel it through the glass. Although I continued to take photos of passersby I could not get this man from my mind. So here you are good sir…if I could take away your heaviness I would.

I wanna know what you see
when you look in the mirror

on a day you’re feeling good.

I wanna know what you see
when you look in the mirror

on a day you’re feeling bad.

I wanna know the first person
    who taught you your beauty

    could ever be reflected
on a lousy piece of glass.

Selfie, with apologies to guisch73 for the camera in the photo and the blurriness- does it count since I just had an ultrasound on my eyes that day? hahahaha. The selfie part is to illustrate the height of the mirror. ;-) I’ll stop talking now.
